What is parasailing?

Parasailing is an exciting and thrilling activity where people glide through the air in an open parachute while being pulled by a boat. You’ve most likely seen people parasailing on vacation to the beach. It is a popular activity in Florida, California and other coastal destinations. Unlike other adrenaline-pumping activities, parasailing doesn’t require much effort on the part of the participants. Here is a step-by-step outline of a parasailing experience.

Step 1: Get on the boat

The first step is to find a parasailing provider and enter onto one of their boats. At this point, the instructors should review the entire process and offer a short brief what to do in case of an emergency. They will also provide you and other participants with a life jacket and helmet.

Step 2: Strap to Parasail

Next, you will sit in a seat and be strapped to the parasail. This is accomplished with a series of buckles and straps to ensure that nothing comes loose during flight. All of this takes place on the deck of the boat. You can remain dry throughout the entire flight.

Step 3: Takeoff

Once you’re strapped in and sitting in the parasail, it is time for takeoff. The boat will start pulling away as the parasail catches a draft and rises into the air. You’ll raise higher the further the boat pulls away.

Step 4: Gliding

Once the peak parasailing height is reached, you will glide around for a short period of time. Most parasailing offers are for 20 or 30 minutes of flying time. Make sure to take in the amazing sights during this step. It is the main focus of the activity.

Step 5: Landing

After gliding around for a while, it is time to land. As the boat slows down, the parasail will naturally start descending towards the ocean. The guides will ensure that the parasail lands perfectly on the deck of the boat.

Step 6: Return to Shore

Once you’re unstrapped from the parasail, the boat will return to shore. You and the other participants will be dropped off in the same location from which the adventures started.

What does parasailing feel like?

Although there are several emotions that come with parasailing, the overall feeling is of excitement and thrill. At the very beginning, it is common to feel nervous as the guides strap you into the parasail. Some participants are even a bit anxious during the initial rise. Once the parasail is gliding smoothly through the air however, you’ll feel overjoyed and excited.

What does parasailing look like?

From afar, parasailing looks like people are gliding down after a skydive. However, the view is much different while in the parasail. Because parasails can get up to 1,000 feet off of the ground, participants get an unbeatable view of the surrounding ocean and beach area.

What is parascending?

Some people use the word ‘parascending’ to refer to the sport of parasailing. These two words effectively mean the same. Parascending combines the words ‘parachute’ and ‘ascending’ to describe the activity.

Is parasailing fun?

Parasailing is one of the most popular adrenaline-pumping activities for beach-goers on vacation. There is nothing more enjoyable and thrilling than gliding through the air and over the ocean. Parasailing gives participants the feeling of flight.
